My first real computer was an Apple SE-30. This machine with its companion LaserWriter changed my life in profound ways, including where I worked and how I worked. It enabled me to stop going to a printingplant and start working for myself as a freelance graphic designer.

That experience shaped my life and my passions. It convinced me that technology and its evolution is an important part of human and graphic design history. Since the first cave dweller discovered that he could draw on the walls at Lascaux, man has continued to document and communicate about his world and activities with the tools that he has created through time.

Graphic design is, generally, a story of anonymous individuals recording the activities of contemporaneous society. Those activities almost always include storytelling and commerce. Good graphic design uses storytelling and commerce with technology to reveal a glimpse into the society they serve.
